Air conditioning maintenance in London

A system that is never serviced runs harder than it needs to and fails sooner than it should. Annual maintenance covers the filters, the drainage, the electrics and — because it is a legal requirement above a certain refrigerant charge — an F-Gas leak check, carried out by F-Gas registered engineers.

Before you call

Worth knowing first

Some of this may save you a callout entirely. We would rather tell you than not.

F-Gas leak checks are a legal requirement, not an upsell

Systems holding a refrigerant charge above a set threshold must have periodic leak checks under F-Gas regulations. It is not something we invented to sell a service plan — it is the law, and only F-Gas registered engineers can carry it out.

A dirty filter is the most common reason for weak cooling

A filter clogged with dust makes the whole system work harder for less cooling, and is the single easiest thing maintenance catches. Simple to fix, and it is usually why a system that used to cool a room properly no longer quite manages it.

Once a year, before the weather asks anything of it

Booking maintenance in spring, before the first warm spell, means any fault gets fixed while it is inconvenient rather than while the system is needed. Booking it in the middle of a heatwave means joining everyone else who left it too late.

Maintenance is not the same as a repair

A maintenance visit is a scheduled check and clean. If it finds a fault — a refrigerant leak, a failing part — fixing that is separate work, priced and agreed before anything is done.

Questions

Common questions

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Once a year is standard. Systems above a certain refrigerant charge also need periodic F-Gas leak checks by law, which a routine maintenance visit covers.

What does a maintenance visit actually cover?

Filters, the condensate drain, refrigerant pressures, electrical connections and controls, and the outdoor condenser — plus an F-Gas leak check where the system requires one.

Will maintenance stop my system from breaking down?

It catches most of the common causes — a clogged filter, a slow refrigerant leak, a blocked drain — before they become a breakdown, though it cannot guarantee against every fault.

Can you maintain a system installed by someone else?

Yes, including F-Gas leak checks on existing systems, whoever fitted them.
