Privacy Policy
How we handle your personal information, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Tamesis Plumbers is a trading name of Tamesis Development Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12210539. Our registered office is Upper Level, 48 Fulham High Street, London, SW6 3LQ.
Tamesis Development Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy. That means we are responsible for deciding how and why your personal information is used.
If you have any question about this policy, or about how we handle your information, email info@tamesisdevelopment.co.uk or call 020 3592 0042.
Information we collect
When you visit this website
This website does not set cookies, does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not store anything in your browser. See our Cookie Policy for detail.
Our hosting provider records standard technical information in its server logs when a page is requested, including your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request and your browser type. This happens automatically for every website and is used to run and secure the service.
This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which means your IP address is disclosed to Google. This is the only third party your browser contacts when viewing this site.
When you contact us
If you call, message us on WhatsApp, or email us, we collect what you give us. For a plumbing enquiry that normally means:
- your name
- your phone number, and your email address if you give one
- the address where the work is needed, including the postcode
- a description of the problem, and any photographs you choose to send us
We only ask for what we need to quote for the work and get an engineer to the right place. You do not have to give us an email address to book a job.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry and give you a price | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Carry out the work, and contact you about it | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keep records of work done, invoices and payments | Legal obligation (accounting and tax) and our legitimate interest in defending claims |
| Keep gas safety records where the work requires it | Legal obligation |
| Run and secure this website | Our legitimate interest in keeping the site available and free from abuse |
We do not use your information for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we do not sell it to anyone.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we need to:
- Our engineers — the person attending your job needs your address, phone number and a description of the work.
- Our hosting and IT providers — the suppliers who run this website and our systems process data on our behalf under contract.
- Gas Safe Register — where a job requires gas work to be notified or certificated.
- Our accountants, and HMRC — for invoicing, accounts and tax.
- Insurers or legal advisers — if there is a claim or dispute.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Information sent outside the UK
Our website hosting provider and Google, whose fonts this site loads, are based in the United States and may process the technical information described above outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the safeguards those providers have in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become jobs — up to 12 months, so we can pick the conversation back up if you come back to us.
- Records of completed work, invoices and payments — six years from the end of the relevant accounting period, which is what tax law and the usual limitation period require.
- Gas safety records — for as long as the relevant regulations require.
- Website server logs — for the short retention period set by our hosting provider.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- have inaccurate information corrected
- ask us to delete information, where we no longer have a reason to keep it
- ask us to restrict how we use it while a concern is looked into
- object to us using it on the basis of our legitimate interests
- ask for the information you gave us in a portable format
- withdraw consent, where we relied on consent
To exercise any of these, email info@tamesisdevelopment.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.
Some of these rights are qualified. For example, we cannot delete records we are legally required to keep, such as invoices or gas safety certificates. If that applies we will tell you why.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first — call 020 3592 0042 or email info@tamesisdevelopment.co.uk and we will look into it.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information — for example when we add an online enquiry form to this site — we will update this policy and change the date at the top.
