Before you call

Worth knowing first

Some of this may save you a callout entirely. We would rather tell you than not.

Before you call, check three things

Is the pressure gauge between roughly 1 and 1.5 bar? Is the thermostat calling for heat? Has the gas gone off elsewhere in the house, for example the hob? Two of the three most common callouts are low pressure and a thermostat problem, and both are worth ruling out first.

Fault codes are worth photographing

If your boiler is showing a code on its display, take a photo and send it on WhatsApp with the make and model. It often tells the engineer what part to bring, which is the difference between one visit and two.

Repair or replace

A boiler over about twelve years old, needing an expensive part, is usually worth replacing rather than repairing. Under that, a repair normally wins. We will give you both numbers and let you decide.

Pressure that keeps dropping

A boiler you have to refill every few weeks is losing water somewhere. That is a leak on the system or a failed expansion vessel, not something topping up will fix — and it is worth finding before it stains a ceiling.

Is my boiler worth repairing?

It depends on age and the part that has failed. We will quote for both the repair and a replacement so you can compare the two honestly, rather than being told only one number.

My boiler is showing a fault code. What does it mean?

Codes differ by manufacturer, so we would rather see it than guess. Send a photo of the display with the make and model on WhatsApp and we can usually tell you what is likely before an engineer sets off.

Why does my boiler keep losing pressure?

Usually a leak somewhere on the system or a failed expansion vessel. Repeatedly topping it up masks the problem rather than fixing it, and a slow leak in a ceiling void gets expensive.

Are your engineers Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Gas work is legally required to be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and ours are.
